[edit] About me
I am a 25-year-old American who has lived in the Kansai region of Japan since graduating from college. I have done various editing work for print publications, and in college I was the editor of a journal of the social sciences. I enjoy editing more than writing, and I find that I'm better at adjusting and improving existing text than at creating my own. In translation I find a happy medium; it is absolutely necessary to convey both the intended tone and the intended meaning of the author. I currently do translations for volunteer and nonprofit organizations. I am interested in the philosophical questions presented by translation and I consider it an art form. I would like to have a Rosetta barnstar more than any other. Because of these interests, a job translating Japanese works of art into English is my holy grail.
I have been a Wikipedia administrator since a unanimous request for adminship in May 2007. Please contact me if you need help. On Wikipedia, I am also an advocate of the idea that the usefulness of an article can be maximized by removing superfluous information. I tend to remove trivia from articles when it is not adequately focused on creating a better understanding of the topic at hand. I am personally responsible for all of my edits on Wikipedia, and I have read and thought about each edit individually. Feel free to let me know how well or poorly I'm editing.
[edit] Pages I keep a more eagle-eyed watch over
- Japanese disambiguation, where I have fixed thousands of ambiguous links
- Wikipedia:Requested moves, which I maintain to the extent of my abilities
- Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links, which never reaches 100%
- Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles), good for my brain
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan, Japan-related deletions and other related pages
- Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links/from categories, a one-man battle
- Japanese people, still in a sorry state, but getting there slowly!
- Bleach (manga), the article that convinced me to make an account
- Ganguro, Melonpan, Raijin, and many more that attract trivial trivia
- Genzō Murakami and other efforts to translate and expand from the JA Wiki
- Sakai, Osaka and the Sakai disambiguation page
I hereby confer upon you this Working Man's Barnstar to thank you for your tireless disambiguation work!
