Dek Island

Dek Island (Dek Deset in Amhara) is the biggest island (approximately 16 km²) on Lake Tana in Ethiopia. It is administratively included in the Achefer woreda of the Mirab Gojjam Zone. The total population is approximately 17,000.

It is home to several monasteries, the best known being Narga Selassie. It is accessible by the ferry that runs from Bahir Dar to Gorgora.[1]
