DeKalb High School (Indiana)

DeKalb High School is a public high school in Waterloo, Indiana. It is part of the DeKalb Central United School District. The School itself is just south of Waterloo, and shares a campus with DeKalb Middle School and the School District's Office.

DeKalb was created in 1967-68 when Auburn High School, Waterloo High School, Ashley High School and Fairfield Twp. School consolidated.
[edit] Athletics
The teams at DeKalb are nicknamed the Barons. School Colors are red and black. They play in the Northeast Hoosier Conference with area schools East Noble, Columbia City, Carroll, Homestead, New Haven, Bellmont and Norwell. The Barons have won two state championships. The first was in Baseball in 1980 and the second was in Football (class 4A) in 1986. They were also state runners-up in Football (class 4A) in 1994 and Basketball (class 4A) in 2003.

The School also has been recognized for it's outstanding music department. The "Baron Brigade" Marching Band has been to the ISSMA State Marching Band Finals in several years, posting a best finish of 5th in 1992. (class B) The "Classic Connection" Show Choir is a forty student ensemble that travels the midwest performing at competitions and festivals placing high or winning in most cases. In 2000, Classic Connection was awarded Grand Champion at the national competition "Showstoppers" in Disney World, Orlando, FL.
