[edit] Name Transcription

I suggest changing the title to Deir ez-Zor since that seems to be the most common transcription of the town. A google search turns up 138,000 hits for "Deir ez-Zor" as opposed to 42,100 for "Dayr az-Zawr." The former is used on numerous travel sites, the Cham Palace site, and the Syrian Embassy. It also reflects the Syrian pronunciation of the name better. In the end it doesn't really matter, as long as both redirect to the same site, but Deir ez-Zor seems to be the most popular transcription, and thus I think it is what we should go with.--Optimussven 21:06, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm inclined to agree, I've hardly ever seen the current version. Palmiro | Talk 21:40, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
