[edit] Spelling of Defence/Defense

Not sure how the Israeli government spells it, but the British Mandate would have spelled it Defence. As this is a proper name, this should be changed to the British English spelling where relevant (ie when the British Mandate's Defence (Emergency) Regulations are being referred to) in the article. 81.157.197.64 14:17, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. Israel uses US spelling, whereas Britain uses English. I'll move them now. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry 16:35, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

The Regulations (which were in very large part the UK Defence Regulations of 1939-45) were enacted by the UK authorities, so the spelling is 'Defence' not 'Defense'. The use of UK English at some points, US English at others, in this article is inconsistent. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English. ariwara 18:07, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
