Defending the Throne of Evil is an album by the Norwegian black metal band Carpathian Forest.
Throwing away many of the punk riffs and other perks that made them well known, Defending the Throne of Evil has stated the band's turn on traditional black metal and their movement towards symphonic black metal with symphonic keyboard arrangements in many of the songs, such as The Old House on the Hill which is completely composed of symphonic keyboard played in a dark carnival-like style with Nattefrost's raspy vocals in the background
