Defence Intelligence and Security Centre
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Defence Intelligence and Security Centre (DISC), or Chicksands as it is more commonly known is located in the village of Chicksands in the English county of Bedfordshire. The River Flit runs through the camp.
Chicksands was the site of RAF Chicksands, an RAF station during World War II. The station was used by the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1995. It was the location for its first huge FLR-9 direction finding antenna from 1963 to 1995. It is now home to the Joint Services School of Intelligence, the Defence Intelligence and Security Centre, and the British Army's Intelligence Corps.
[edit] Intelligence Schools
The purpose of Chicksands is to educate and train personnel from all three services for duties in Intelligence gathering and analysis, as well as counterintelligence and security. Within Chicksands itself there are numerous training delivery wings (TDW) which each specialise in a particular area of intelligence and security. The camp is primarily Intelligence Corps run and indeed the Intelligence Corps do all of their phase two training at Templer TDW.
