[edit] Lifting of the Excommunication

I changed the link that said On the Roman Catholic Church lifting the excommunication of Martin Luther to On the lifting the excommunication of Martin Luther by a Priest of the Society of Saint Pius X. The reason I did this was because the statement was made by a priest of the Society of Saint Pius X. I'm not sure about the current status of the society in the larger Catholic church - but my understanding is that it still is seperated from the larger church. So I think it's more accurate to say that this is a position of the SSPX. If someone does know of an official document of the church from a source such as the Vatican then I hope they'd put a link to that in this article.

[edit] Views of Roland Bainton

I have restored the quotation from Roland Bainton that an anonymous editor has removed. Since this paragraph discusses whether or not to lift the papal excommunication of Luther the quotation from one of the most famous of contemporary Luther biographers regarding this matter is relevant and significant. Bainton gives his historical judgment relative to Luther's being excommunicated. drboisclair 19:34, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Catholic News Link

I added this source and a snippet from it because the idea that the Church is considering rehabilitating Luther is groundless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.115.104.2 (talk) 02:12, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
