Declan Hicks is a Professional Racing driver, competing in the European Drift Championship and National D1 Drift Championship of Great Britain.
Originally Hicks competed in a Mk1 Mazda MX-5, which proved a great starting point for a budding drifter. Soon the requirement for big power was met by the acquisition of a second generation Toyota Soarer, with a rare manual gearbox and factory sunroof delete option package. This has provided the ideal base for a drift car, despite being originally intended by Toyota as a Luxury Coupe. Long gone is the two litre twin turbo engine, having been replaced with a Single Turbo 2.5 litre powerplant.
Declan is involved in many various forms of motorsport, and was recently part of a team building and racing a Power Tool Drag Racer to race in the Silverline tools Challenge, soon to be seen on the Discovery Canada magazine show Daily Planet, with his team-mates Jon Lawes and Ben Short. Declan is a senior drift instructor, event organiser & also heavily involved in marketing & media within the drift industry.
