[edit] Background

Decadence was formed in November of 2003 under the name Dekapitera by Kitty Saric, the band's vocalist and manager. Kitty auditioned guitarists Christian Lindholm and Niclas Rådberg, who quit their band Devastator to join Kitty's project, later, drummer Peter Lindqvist was asked to join. Kenneth Lantz ended up being a session bass player for the band.

The band took the name "Ravenous" for their first two gigs, but then decided to make a new official name and it ended up being Kitty's idea, Decadence. About half a year later, Peter decided to quit to focus on his other two bands: A-Bros and Canopy.

In 2004, Decadence started auditioning drummers, in February, Patrik Frögéli joined and a few weeks later, Decadence completed their demo Land of Despair, still with Peter Lindqvist on drums. That same year both guitarists left the band due to personal reasons. Session bassist Kenneth Lantz then joined the band as the lead guitarist. Decadence then started auditioning bassists and rhythm guitarists. Roberto Vacchi Segerlund joined, and in fall, Mikael Sjölund joined.

In March of 2005 Decadence completed their first full-length album entitled Decadence. In June of 2005, Mikael Sjölund was replaced by Daniel Green, Roberto Vacchi Segerlund by Joakim Antman, and Patrik Frögéli was replaced by Erik Röjås. In November the band completed their second full-length album entitled The Creature.

In March of 2006, Decadence separated with rhythm guitarist Daniel Green. Ulf Sörman(Castillion) then joined as session guitarist. In October of 2006, the band officially announced their signing onto Kitty Saric's record label HTI Records.

On November 2, 2006, the band completed their third full-length album entitled 3rd Stage of Decay, the first Decadence album released through a label.
