Debub University ("South University"), also known as Hawassa University(currently,'Hawassa University is the official name of the university), is a university in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Region of Ethiopia. It was established 22 December 1999 as the result of the Council of Ministers Regulation No. 62/1999, which ordered the consolidation of the Awassa College of Agriculture, and the Dilla College of Teachers Education and Health. Dilla College of Teachers Education and Health now split and a stands as a university by its own; however, the Health faculty has been moved to Hawassa.

It has since upgraded its capabilities, adding new departments, programs and research facilities.
