Debre Sina (woreda)

Debre Sina is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Debub Wollo Zone, Debre Sina is bordered on the south by Wegde, on the west by the Abbay River which separates it from the Misraq Gojjam Zone, on the north by Sayint, and on the east by Legambo. Towns in Debre Sina include Amsale Genet and Mekane Selam.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 170,644, of whom 86,886 were males and 83,758 were females; 9,531 or 5.59% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 12.4%. With an estimated area of 925.01 square kilometers, Debre Sina has an estimated population density of 184.5 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 173.56.[1]
