Deborah Orr is a British journalist and broadcaster. She is married to writer and satirist Will Self.
She is currently a columnist for The Independent and has contributed to many radio and television programmes. She was previously editor of the Guardian Weekend magazine. She has been critical of the practices of some Muslim traditions from a feminist perspective, claiming that British-Muslim women wearing veils (which she calls "masks") have been forced into a subordinate position.
Orr came under fire after using the word "fuck" on BBC Breakfast in October 2005, ironically during a discussion about swearing.
