Debil ("Moronic") is the first full length studio album by Die Ärzte, released in 1984. An earlier release, the five tracks containing Uns geht's prima..., is often termed by the band as "Mini-LP", therefore Debil is often referred to as their second album.

Paul and Zu spät were released as singles, without being successful initially. However, a live version of Zu spät was released as a single of the live album Nach uns die Sintflut in 1989 and became a moderate hit in Germany. Today the song is a fan fave and usually the last one in their live sets.

In 1987, the songs Claudia hat 'nen Schäferhund and Schlaflied were put on the German List of Media Harmful to Young People, which had the effect that it was not only illegal to sell the album to minors, but also to advertise or put the album on display anywhere where minors could see it, including in record stores.

In 2004, both songs were removed from the list, therefore in 2005, Debil was re-released as Devil. This re-release contains six bonus tracks as well as two CD-ROM videos and shows a slightly changed cover.

MC and vinyl releases feature on each side a greeting: "Hey du Blödmann, du hast die falsche Seite aufgelegt", which means "Hey you dimwit, you've used the wrong side".
