[edit] In response to your Help Desk post

The article Rothschild giraffe is available. The search function works off a cached index, and often does not show new articles for several days or more. DES (talk) 22:20, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sources needed

Rothschild giraffe looks like a pretty good article, but it does not cite any sources for the information it provides. Where can the reader verify this information and perhaps find more? Where did you get the information yourself? if you want help puttign this into the artilce, i'll be glad to offer some, jsut leave a note on my talk page, or ask at the help deask again.

Oh and don't forget to sign posts on talk pages (not articels) with four tildes (~~~~). Thank you. DES (talk) 22:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] linking and citations

You lik from one article to another by putting the article name in double brackets. For example, This:

[[Rothschild giraffe]]

will look like this:

Rothschild giraffe

How to edit a page will tell you much more about this and other wiki markup.

Our citations guideline can show you more about how to cite sources on wikipedia. The page on reliable sources will help indicate what kinds of sources you should cite. DES (talk) 22:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I have indicated in Rothschild giraffe those places that I think a citation is needed, using the {{fact}} template. Note that one source can possibly provide supprot for more than one of these facts.
Please read our original research policy. Note that "knowledge gained from spending time in the African bush" is not really a reliable source, because no one else can verify it.
I hope this is helpful. DES (talk) 03:42, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 09:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rothschild Giraffe and citations

Hello there. An article you started, Rothschild Giraffe, was nominated for Do You Know? but was rejected for a lack of references. For your information I've added half a dozen citations to the article but couldn't find a reliable source for the claim of less than a hundred still existing in the wild. Besides your own personal experience, can you provide a source (either in a book or from another, reliable website) to back this claim up? All the best The Rambling Man 07:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Bingo. That's great, I've added the citation for you. It will most certainly be considered for DYK, but we'll have to keep an eye on it in case someone has any further comments to improve the article so that it can be linked to from the Main Page. All the best. The Rambling Man 15:35, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Hello again. I've fixed the links to and from Giraffe Centre & Rothschild giraffe. If you don't link the article name correctly then the link stays red, for example the giraffe article linked to The Giraffe Centre, and not Giraffe Centre, while that article linked to Rothschild's Giraffe, not Rothschild giraffe. It's subtle but often can stop links working. In some cases, it is okay to create a redirect page. You can learn more about that at WP:REDIRECT. Hope that's helped! [edit] Rothschild giraffe

Updated DYK query On 21 April 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Rothschild giraffe, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Tabbing (indenting) and discussions

Hey, thanks for your message.

To indent the text by a tab's worth, use the ":" before the start of the sentence.
:: will get you here...
::: will get you further...

Hope that helps! The Rambling Man 14:36, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
