[edit] Matt shanley
A tag has been placed on Matt shanley, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to add more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kinu t/c 06:22, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

This article has been nominated for deletion (or has already been deleted). Don't be discouraged! Many of us have had articles deleted, especially early in our wikicareers. Deletion is not a reflection on your editing but simply the application of our standard rules, particularly WP:NOTABILITY (and WP:BIO for persons, WP:WEB for websites, WP:CORP for companies, WP:MUSIC for bands, and so forth.) Looking forward to your future contributions, Herostratus 06:28, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Matt Shanley
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Matt Shanley, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Matt Shanley. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. --Kinu t/c 08:05, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] re Matt Shanley
Look, this is article is about a freaken computer programmer. If we included articles on everyone alive and dead who are as notable as him, we would have many score million biographical articles, which would swamp our ability to maintain. It's an encyclopedia. Think Einstein, Lenin, Luther, and like that. Granted you don't have to be as notable as them to have an article, but on the other hand there's a limit. So read WP:BIO, and don't recreate the article anymore, thanks. Herostratus 04:38, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
