[edit] Reporting Vandalism Template?

Hi, do you know a template for quickly reporting vandalism? Greg Comlish (talk) 16:50, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

There's no template that I know of but most the various tools at WP:CUV/T have reporting functions. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 16:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] user:166.109.0.203 Ban

This is a school district ip address i actually do attend high school in the district i would like to make a suggesting to permanently blocking this ip address because all 99.9% of the edits made from this is vandalism and i believe that no mater what it will continue.I think it would be better if people were forced to make a account in order to edit articles.

Thanks Staffwaterboy Talk 16:19, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

We don't perm block IPs, no matter their vandalistic history. Those IPs can always get reassigned and that could cause a lot of collateral damage. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 16:32, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Anonymous User 72.241.101.20

Hi DEA - On 31 March, you issued a gentle warning (more in the nature of a friendly reminder) to anonymous user 72.241.101.20. However, I note that 72.241.101.20 has now deleted your comments from his/her user/discussion page, and also deleted comments he didn't like from Zagalejo (who apparently later restored his comments, overriding 72.241.101.20's deletion). Just thought you should know that your comments have been deleted by the anonymous user. It's a bit silly, really, because the history is there, plain for all to see, and nobody is attacking 72.241.101.20 - in fact, he/she has made some good edits in the recent past, but occasionally gone a bit too far with several edits or deletions. It appears that he/she is a new contributor, so I don't believe there is any ill-will involved - just some need for him/her to have a better understanding of Wikipedia's processes. Cheers from New Zealand,--Georgette.mccallum (talk) 19:49, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hey Doug

(moved here from User talk:Doug for unified discussion)

What's with this: Here? --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 15:51, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for no explanation, an IP canvassing with potentially libelous material about a third party. I probably should've deleted it rather than just reverting it but it looks like it's been oversighted now. See Wikipedia:ANI#Strange_message_by_anon, not that it will give you much more information. --Doug.(talk contribs) 17:02, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Help!

Yo DEA I need your help with user Scetoaux. --InvisibleDiplomat666 22:07, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

He is, of course, referring to Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts#User:Twaz. —  scetoaux (T|C) 22:09, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your Help is Needed

Currently, there is a dispute going on at WP:PW over the format of one of the matches at a pay-per-view event. This has been getting a little bit out of hand, which led to the article being fully protected. What I'm asking of you is to do to WT:PW#WrestleMania XXIV - Fully-Protected, read over the thread and put in your input. I know you are a reliable administrator, and if you, as an outside reader, can solve this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time! iMatthew 2008 00:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WP:N/CA

Because of the limited discussion, this proposal was marked rejected. It can be resurrected at any time, and may become useful in the future, but for now, just wanted to thank you for all the help you gave in tightening up the text etc. Best wishes Fritzpoll (talk) 15:40, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:57, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hi There Dead Eye Arrow!

I have just started to add images to Wiki and made an attempt with an image gallery on the Mars page as well as the Phoenix Spacecraft page. As someone with much more experience then I have can you let me know if I did this correctly because I went on to check them this morning and they were gone:( I do think that the pictures have value, would it have been better if I added just one image of the avalanche on the right side of the page?

Also you mentioned that the image gallery is better suited to the Mars Geology subpage do you think this is something I should go ahead and add?

Thanks for your help!Sepeople (talk) 14:06, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

[edit] Chilean salmon sector Pt 2

Dear DeadEyeArrow,

I published the same article on Wikibooks, but it was also deleted there. Reason: it should be placed on Wikipedia!

Any advice?

Regards,

Adrianuz

(talk) 15:26, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Mike & DEA,

It seems that the salmon article is 'locked in' between Wikibooks and Wikipedia. Can we find a solution? The information itself is very useful for those who are both interested and active in the sector. The article explains the roots of the Chilean salmon sector; i.e. why does it exist and how did it develop.

Regards,

Bcbolman/Adrianuz

[edit] Image:Gtscx.jpg

please explain why the image Image:Gtscx.jpg from flickr is; "# Pure vandalism. This includes blatant and obvious misinformation, and redirects created by cleanup from page-move vandalism."

--  Chzz  ►  03:40, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I apologize for the claim of vandalism, that wasn't your intent. But it is a shock image and immediately deletable. Previous discussions at Talk:Goatse.cx have leaned towards not including an image on the page. You're welcome to bring it up there again. Considering the nature of the image I feel you should have done so in the first place. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 04:02, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
considering you have admitted your reason for deletion was incorrect, I suggest you a) immediately restore the image, and then b) perhaps think of another reason for deletion and do so. --  Chzz  ►  04:05, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
It was already done before you replied. If a discussion goes in the way of inclusion, I'd restore it, or rather one with the proper copyright info. Otherwise, you know where to take the issue. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 04:19, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stale warning

WTF did I do to Birdman's article?

Shit!

Responded on users talk, it's just an old stale warning. Just ignore it. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 07:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Star of Bethlehem

Thanks for nominating Star of Bethlehem for feature article status. I did most of the writing and shepherded the article to "GA" status, so I feel it's my baby. Kauffner (talk) 14:11, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

YW, I apologize though for not giving inquiry before nominating. It was rather late when I did the FAC and skipped a step. Nonetheless, I do feel it could be featured and in the end the scrutiny can only lead to improvement. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 18:16, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
It was nice for a while, but now it's looking pretty grim. Redoing all the references would take hours and hours and nobody reading the article would even notice the difference. And they just keep piling on. I have never seen any article that follows all those citeria, featured or not. Maybe they object to everything -- and least some them don't want to feature anything Christian. They don't want us to reference the Bible? What can you say to that?Kauffner (talk) 21:25, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
There have been questions about using the bible as a reference in the past. They are not objecting on any religious basis, it is just the very high expectations for articles that are to represent the best of the wiki. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 02:09, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Despite how the FAC is going, I think the article itself is shaping up quite nicely. Thanks for all your hard work. I think the lead should be a bit longer and there should be a "Further reading" section for printed material. We also need to figure what to do all the citations Rbreen added. He put in about 20 books cites just to make a few small points. I'm not looking forward to reformating them, but he will not be a happy camper if we delete them. If the citation format is inconstant, that will certain come up in any future review. I've been looking at different feature articles lately to try to a good model follow. But IMO, we are already a step above most of the current feature articles. Kauffner (talk) 18:26, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Yeah, muffin physics

The link to muffin physics on the muffin page was real. Seriously, wasn't that one of the subtler funny things you had seen in quite a while? Why be such a killjoy? If this web site can't make fun of itself anywhere, it has serious problems. Almost as bad as the problems in any upcoming muffin physics research papers. If you think this encyclopedia is just for the more noble pursuits, then why have 500 word article on muffins that does little but define them and all their possibilities? How serious is that? Pdbailey (talk) 21:13, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Yea it was funny, but this isn't uncyclopedia. Which btw has it's own bit bout muffin physics. I'm all for humour on the wiki, but it should be kept off the article space. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 21:32, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding your tag "needs citations" on Figaro Systems

Hello - I am the creator of that article. I cited 19 sources; 11 are articles about the company or its technology from US newspapers, trade or other journals, or other neutral and independent sources. The remainder of the citations are to the company's official website. Please suggest how to improve this article. Thanks, Leoniana (talk) 23:24, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

The other citations are okay, but ultimately the ones that are from the website aren't appropriate for Wikipedia, particularly the ones in the venues, awards and products section. They need to be replaced with reliable third party sources. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 23:55, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
