Talk:Death of a Doxy

[edit] Initial contribution
There are at least two problems with the article as I've saved it: 1. I can't seem to get paragraphing in the text box at the top of the article. Is that not supported in text boxes? 2. The book specs (e.g., ISBN, page count, etc.) that appear on these pages appear to refer generally to the book's first edition/printing. How can these be determined if that first edition is not on a contributor's bookshelf?TurnerHodges 16:12, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Re: 1 — I'll try fiddling with the formatting and see what happens... Re: 2 — It's bound to be on another contributor's bookshelf. I'll chip in some information (and yes, the infobox is all about the first printing). Thanks for creating the article. — WFinch 17:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- A little trial and error, and there we are. That's a great quote for the lead, there. There was a big hole without there being an article for this book yet — thank you very much for all the work you did on this. I enjoyed reading it. I expect others will, too. —WFinch 17:40, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words, and for the br's (duh -- I use them a lot with bridge hand diagrams), and for fixing the character section book title.
- You might get a kick out of this story: As I was doing a little additional research on Doxy I went to the Wolfe Pack site and looked it up there. So much care has gone into those pages that I was surprised to see "Jaquette" (as it's spelled in my copy of the book) shown as "Jacquette" -- presumably after "Jacqueline." As invited to do by the site, I wrote the web mistress (whose handle is Golden Spider) to inform her of the erratum. She sent back a brief note thanking me, and signed it, "I wish you well." I got a smile from that. TurnerHodges 21:18, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- There. I gave Ms. Jaquette (right you are) cuts in line and added her book jacket — that must be poor Isabel, actually — to the infobox, as well as the other details. "Golden Spider" must have been irresistible to the Wolfe Pack webmistress (and see, I told you, Wolfe people love nitpicking). What a fitting sign-off. I wish you well, too. — WFinch 03:33, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
