[edit] Brian Jones
Is there any evidence that the school "plays down his time at the school due to his rebellious attitude while he was there" ?
Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones is said to have attended both Pates Grammar school Cheltenham and Dean Close Cheltenham. Did he have a twin of the same name or is one school bending the truth? mmnn
PS - Personally i believe Pates to be better than Dean close as it is free, achieves far higher grades, pupils aren't arrogant and they beat Dean Close at 1st XV Rugby.
This is not abuse just an opinion.
[edit] Information on DCS houses (deleting the section)
I find the section on the Houses inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Copy like this would be fitting for the Student Paper/Magazine (Decus, does it still exist?), but witty (or juvenile?) references to animal species or male entertainment have no place here. Nczempin 14:53, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Detail on the different houses of the school are not of interest to an outside user. In any case, the state in which the descriptions are at the moment are inappropriate. So I'm deleting the whole section. If you feel that the houses should be included, feel free to add them; please enter only objective information. Nczempin 11:01, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Old Decanians
Nczempin - are you Nicolai? We were in the same year together at DCS. Glad to see you're alive and well -- JonRB 12:50, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- I am indeed, unique worldwide, alive and kicking, plus two generated offspring. Any more detail will have to go to my or your talk page :-) Nczempin 16:15, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

- Let me guess: you went to Pates. In your world, is it not possible that a person goes to one school, then leaves that school and goes to another? 81.7.224.242 11:51, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jilly Cooper
Do we have a source that Dean Close was the model for Jilly Cooper's novel "Wicked"? I haven't read it, but it looks as though it could be based on any public school. I know Jilly Cooper lives in Gloucestershire, but there are several public schools within throwing distance of her home.Cravenmonket 16:06, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
I believe this was announced at a school assembly about a few years ago. Jilly Cooper is a friend of the Headmaster and has visited the school on a number of occasions. Some of the charatures in the book are recognisable from when I was there!91.110.141.182 (talk) 17:13, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Assessment
Start class, good alumni and history sections. Needs external sources, to get to B Class, and info on any of the special programs the school runs. Low importance, little here asserting any sort of notability.

- I have re-assessed this school as (Start/mid). You have a middling size list of alumni including some notable names such as Francis Bacon and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones. The fact that Jilly Cooper's novel Wicked was also supposedly based on the school confers some importance. The alumni and claims need to be referenced to keep the mid importance rating. More content and lots of references needed to advance to B class. Dahliarose 11:17, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Category
Bear with me I am new to contributing on wikiapedia
The sections at the bottom of the page list the school as being a senior school while this is true for in the information on the page. There is DCPS the prep school which by by reckoning would place the school in the all ages section. Although for this to happen there needs to be something written about the prep school.91.110.141.182 (talk) 17:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
