[edit] MOVIE MISTAKES

Mistake #1 The film takes place in a private boarding school the 1950's, however one of the students is studying from a 1980's chemistry textbook.

Mistake #2 Before going to the theatre to watch Neil's performance, the boys are grooming themselves at the school. Todd has combed his hair backwards and styling remedies has been applied. But when the group are about to leave the theatre after the play and Neil and his father passes them at the entrance, Todd has his regular hairdo again.

Mistake #3 At the very end, about 14-15 students are seen stepping to the tops of their desks. The last shot before the credits, however, shows only 10-11 students on their desktops.

Mistake #4 In the scene where Todd is in the principal's office with his parents and the principal, and is is being asked to sign the paper, during the shot of Todd looking at the paper, his father's voice says," I've had enough, just sign it", and it is very obvious that line was added in because it sounded like it was very distant or over a radio or something.

Mistake #5 The first time all friends are in the bedroom together Charlie says "Unless you're a genius like Meeks." Meeks replies "He flatters me so I'll help him with Latin." Halfway through this sentence the shot changes to a sideway shot of meek and his mouth isn't moving. —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

 • mistake #1 should be added as an anchorism(sp?) but the rest is trivia and trivia doesnt really belong in a good article, maybe it would be better off just mentioning inconsistancies. Wolfmankurd 00:21, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Most of these are very lame.

[edit] Source

What is the source on the alternate ending cited? JamieJones talk 21:18, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

it's cited in "Trivia & Goofs" section, so why is it mentioned twice? Yiyun 00:25, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removed phrase

"* The film has become standard viewing for many high school English classes in North America, popularly on how the J.D. Salinger novel "The Catcher in the Rye" has influenced modern literature and cinema. "

I did not understand your intent of this sentence. Please correct it. JamieJones talk 04:21, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Now, I am going to have to watch this again, because I don't think Neil committed suicide with his father's gun. I could be totally wrong, but I have this scene in my head: After Neil's huge success as Puck, and after the confrontation with his father, he simply jumps, in his Puck costume, from the window. I can't remember a gun. Going to have to watch it again!

You definetly need to watch it again--Neil does kill himself with his father's gun.

That's correct. There was no window, and no jumping. JackofOz 00:36, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
I think there were windows back then. And jumping. BonniePrinceCharlie 01:28, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I can confirm that Neil did not jump out the window. Neil took his shirt off, then took his father's revolver, went downstiars and shot himself. Parents that don't let their children do what they want to do (jobwise) drives me crazy. Neil's father really had it in for his son. Also, he takes no responsibility at all for his son's death. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:D p s.jpg

Image:D p s.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
