Deathchain (originally named Winterwolf) is a heavy metal band which incorporates elements of death metal and thrash metal from Kuopio, Finland. The band is currently signed to Dynamic Arts Records and toured Europe with Candlemass and Destruction in late 2005[citation needed].

The band formed in 1997 under the name Winterwolf and self-released two demos entitled Death... Will Come Your Way and Blood for Death. The band name then changed to Deathchain and they self-released another demo entitled Poltergeist. The band then signed to Dynamic Arts Records and released their first studio album Deadmeat Disciples in 2003. In 2005 the band did a split album with Brutal death metal band Deathbound, see Deathchain/Deathbound Split 2005. Additionally in 2005 the band also released their second album Deathrash Assault, some fans took the word Deathrash from the album name and used it to describe the bands sound. The bands latest album Cult of Death was released on May 23, 2007

Deathchain's musical style incorporates elements of death metal and thrash metal which leads some fans of the band to name the style Deathrash. The lyrical content of Deathchain usually deals with death, destruction, horror, satan and war.
