Death and Diamonds is the 15th book in The Hardy Boys Undercover Brothers series. It was first published in April 2007 by Aladdin Paperbacks an imprint of Simon & Schuster
[edit] Plot summary
Frank and Joe Hardy are sent to a local fashion show to guard the valuable diamonds. They are going to be the bodyguards of the two models who are going to wear the diamonds at the convention. Frank got to be the bodyguard of Naomi Dowd while Joe became the body guard of Shakira.
The illegal diamonds were confiscated from the South American warlord/dictator Sanguillen. The police suspects that Sanguillen and his counterparts will try to steal the diamonds, now legal, back.
Throughout the story Frank and Joe first get chloroformed. They escape through the vents, in time to see the robbery taking place. They find out that Sanguillen and American thief Shakey Twist are involved. Later, the find Twist's dead body in the water on the bay.
Soon the investigation leads Frank to New York, where the diamonds were allegedly made and authorized. They get caught be two of Sanguillen's men but manage to escape. The shop owner, however, was shot and died. Meanwhile, back in Bayport, Joe finds out that the diamonds that were stolen were fake, which led them to believe that Twist was killed when Sanguillen and his men realized that the diamonds were fake. Later, Naomi Dowd is allowed to go but gets caught by Sanguillen.
Frank arrives just in time to save Naomi and while trying to kill him, Sanguillen accidentally kills himself. Then Bobo Hines, Naomi's bodyguard comes and kidnaps Frank. Frank finds out that Naomi and Bobo actually stole the real diamonds and replaced it with the fakes. However, they were already in the middle of the lake, where Naomi and Bobo were going to drown him. Joe arrives just in time to save Frank and they manage to stop the culprits from escaping. The Bayport police shows up and everything gets back to normal again.
