Death By TV (often referred to as death by television or dbtv) are a 2 man band from the United Kingdom. The band is based around Harry who writes songs and programs and sings and plays bass and all sorts, Rory helps out and plays stuff live. The main elements of the sound are gameboy and guitar but there are cheap keyboards and synths as well as (sometimes circuit bent) toys used. The band say they wanted to start a punk band but accepted they are far too nerdy and decided to just do stupid nerd music instead. The influence of punk can be clearly heard in the music, with the band citing influences such as Jerry's Kids, Zero Boys and Bad Brains. Songs rarely exceed 2 minutes and are always fast paced and simple, similar to punk. Songs are usually about stuff the band love (lego, being immature, tv, chick flicks, hardcore, zombies etc) or stuff the band hate (mature people, religion, macho dudes etc).
The band themselves refuse to take themselves seriously. Unlike the majority of bands who are actually punk bands rather than this, the band are not very political but still express frustration with religion and stuff what sucks. and often give music away for free.
A split tape with Videohippos will be released on May 15th 2008 (featuring the track "Biro Tattoos" as part of the eagerly awaited "Heart Gardens" cassette split club series on Minnesota weirdo label Unnecessary Friction Records
