Death By Pixel (DBP) is a video gaming comic and soon to be an animated series written by Mike Meredith (Who often goes by the alias "Omega"). It was first uploaded on March 13th 2006 as a black and white strip that had just been drawn on paper and scanned in with little enhancement[1], though over time it has gradually developed into a highly respected and popular comic among the Drunk Duck community[2]. The strip was first released with only two characters, Jared Robinson and Matt Cordova. However, Meredith soon introduced Jared's two cousins, Revere and Jade in later comics.

[edit] Main
[edit] Jared Robinson
Loosely based on the author, Jared is a 20 year old gamer with a Sega obsession, he has a strong distaste for anything to do with Sony or Halo and currently lives with Matt, who he met at a Denny's many years ago. He is rarely quiet and always finds something to occupy his time, much to the dismay of his friends and relatives. He never misses a chance to crack a corny joke he heard on Family Guy or Something Awful. He is always quick to say what's on his mind and always honest, no matter what may happen as a result. He is currently in possession of fifteen Mega Drives and seven Dreamcasts, as well as two sets of Samba De Amigo Maracas. Rumor has it that his brain runs on formulas capable only by the wonders of Blast Processing. He also has a strong dislike for John Gabriel of Penny Arcade (webcomic) and loves Timesplitters 2. Jared is not the sharpest tool in the shed, as he had played Guitar Hero II for 6 hours straight without the guitar plugged in[3]
[edit] Matt Cordova
Matt is a 21 year old Xbox 360 and PC fan, he will take any chance to screw up Jared's life in one way or another and is sexually attached to Jared's cousin, Jade, once actually mistaking Jared for her [4]. It has been implied[5] that he has a collection VG Cats porn of their female lead, Aeris and a few strips later Meredith made a strip featuring a VG Cats cameo of Leo and Aeris prank calling Jared[6] because of this. Matt also has an addiction to felt-tip markers[7] and unlike Jared, who likes TS2, an addiction to TimeSplitters 3.
[edit] Jade
Jade is Jared's 13 year old cousin, she moved in with him and Matt due to a custody battle between her parents. She is a Sony fan at heart and fails to grasp the concept that 4chan is not suitable for her[8]. At first, Meredith made a 1 panel strip without much information about who she was or where she was from, all he told the users was that he either wanted her to be Jared's Girlfriend or cousin, but he settled with the latter. [9] Meredith cites his inspiration for Jade being a cousin of his own who happened to be obsessed with gaming to an unusual extent.
[edit] Supporting
- Revere is Jared's cousin that shares the same 'fucked up hair'[10] as him, little is known about him but he was last seen as a zombie infected with the T-Virus[11]. He was the one that brought us the terrible news that Ridge Racer 360 sucks [12]. Just like Matt, he is a lover of the Halo Franchise and is the master of reheated Chinese takeout. Much to the dismay of Jared, he is also a large fan of Dead Rising (which is ironic considering his own zombified physical state).
- Cueball is an employee at Gamestop, he is a massive Sony fan, although never actually meeting anyone in the cast but Matt, both Jared and Matt have a strong dislike for him. He once tried to get Matt to buy a PS2 to Xbox Converter to use PS2 controllers on an Xbox, sell him a PS3 and then tried to sell him a PS2 Slimline [13]. Recently he threatened to kill Matt if he didn't purchase a PS3 before he left [14].
- Nameless Gamestop Employee has only ever been seen once throughout the entire comic, working at Gamestop when Jared and Matt go in to get their copy of Black and White 2 [15]. It is most probably a male character but when Jared asks if it is a he or a she, it just says that the answer to the question is not easily explained.
