Death By Audio

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Death By Audio is a warehouse space on the first floor of an industrial building in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.

The space operates primarily as a live/work environment for artists and musicians, but also functions as a recording studio, effect pedal factory, and art/music venue.

The warehouse takes its name from the boutique effects pedal company, Death By Audio.

Founded in 2002 by Oliver Ackermann, Death By Audio effects[1] is a small hand-made effect pedal company, providing custom pedals for bands such as Lightning Bolt, Wilco, Nine Inch Nails and U2.

Starting in the summer of 2007 part of the space has been used as a venue for underground music and art events[2]. Artists such as Japanther, Dirty Projectors, Growing, Tony Conrad, Thurston Moore and Dan Deacon have performed at Death By Audio. The venue is run by Jason Amos and Matt Conboy, who met while building Death By Audio effect pedals.
