Dean Wesley Hockney (born in Kokomo, Indiana on September 11, 1967) is a sportswriter and author. His first book, Kats with a K, chronicled the first 100-years of the storied Kokomo High School (Indiana) basketball program, which won the Indiana High School basketball state championship in 1961.
Dean won a national writing award in 2004 from the United States Basketball Writers Association for his story of the tragic life of basketball legend James "Goose" Ligon.
He is currently working in Baghdad, Iraq, as a U.S. Army civilian contractor Public Affairs Officer.
