[edit] Drug Use

Dean was a drug addict from the 1970s until the early 1990s. He gained his nicknames from his use of Heroin and Cocaine. In 1983, he was arrested in Detroit, Michigan for possession of narcotics, and had to leave The Deadweights for a time. His use also strained his relationship with the band, and dropped in and out of the lineup until the band's final disbandment in 1987. In 1988, he was arrested in a police raid and sentenced to 2 years in Riker's Island State Prison. By 1992, he had been using drugs for over 20 years, and after an overdose of heroin, he finally quit.
