Dean Edmund Haspiel (b. 1967) is a comic book artist living in Brooklyn, New York. He is most recognized for his collaborations with writer Harvey Pekar on his American Splendor series as well as the recent graphic novel, The Quitter.

Dean Haspiel was born on May 31, 1967 in New York City. In the mid-1980s, Dean worked as an assistant to Howard Chaykin on American Flagg!, Bill Sienkiewicz on New Mutants and Elektra: Assassin, and Walter Simonson on Thor. In 1987, Dean inaugurated his own comics career when he co-created The Verdict with Martin Powell. Dean went on to co-create the two-man comics anthology, Keyhole, with cartoonist Josh Neufeld, and later with his "last romantic anti-hero", Billy Dogma.
In 2006, Dean Haspiel converged with seven other cartoonists to form the online comics studio known as ACT-I-VATE. It is through this venture that Haspiel is serializing the Billy Dogma Trilogy, starting with Immortal, and its sequel Fear, My Dear.
Upcoming works include Brawl a "creature romance double feature" with Michel Fiffe for Image Comics come Fall 2007, and the graphic novel The Alcoholic with writer Jonathan Ames for Vertigo Comics in the Fall of 2008, and, eventually, his Brooklyn, comix/art, memoir Lift Here to Open.
