Dean Heath Garrett (born November 27, 1966, in Los Angeles, Calif.) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the 2nd round (38th overall) of the 1988 NBA Draft. Garrett actually started his NBA career in 1996, mere weeks from his 30th birthday, having played in Europe in the intervening years, mostly in Italy[1]. He went on to play six years in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Golden State Warriors. His best year as a pro came during the 1997-98 NBA season when he started in all 82 games for the Nuggets, averaging 7.3 ppg. He played collegiately at Indiana University, where he was a member of the 1987 NCAA Championship team.
After retirement he was living in Las Vegas when friends from Minneapolis contacted him about a business proposition in Minnesota. He moved to Minnesota and is part owner in three businesses, a restaurant, a nightclub and a wireless phone retailer, according to a "where are they now" article by NBA.com.
