[edit] 2008 Congressional run

Andal has announced that he is running for Congress in 2008. He will be running in the 11th district against Jerry McNerney, a freshman congressman who pulled off a major upset when he defeated Richard Pombo, a longtime congressman and chairman of the House Resources Committee. Another potential candidate is GOP Activist Jill Buck. Buck comes from the Bay Area part of the district while Andal comes from the San Joaquin Valley part of the district.

[edit] Business

Mr. Andal is the founder and President of Andal Communications, a bank and real estate marketing company.

[edit] State politics

He began his public career in 1991, when he won a special election to the California State Assembly. He complied a strong conservative record and was assigned the chief budget negotiator for his caucus, working on highly technical and complex legislation. He was reelected to a full term in 1992, and was named Legislator of the Year by a number of taxpayer organizations. In 1994 he was elected to the California Board of Equalization, a tax board, and he was reelected to a second term in 1998. In 2002, he ran for California State Controller, but lost the Republican primary to California State Senator Tom McClintock.

[edit] Post-state politics

In 2003, he became a consultant for Gerry Kamilos, a wealthy developer who played a key role in the creation of the new town of Mountain House. His principal role in Kamilos's "PCCP West Park" in Crows Landing, California is controversial due to its plan to create an industrial business park on 4,800 acres (19 km²) of rich farmland.

Those neighboring community members and elected officials that disagree with the project have been subjected to stealth attacks via the San Joaquin Blog, and truthaboutpatterson.org blog. Private investigators have appeared in this once quiet and politically unencumbered area, not to mention imported activists for hire that have proceeded to put forth two ballot initiatives: one to limit growth in the neighboring City of Patterson and the other is to introduce Term Limits to the City Council. Perhaps Andal & Kamilos have nothing to do with the climate of politics in Stanislaus County, it's had to tell. Two County Supervisors have benefited from Mr. Kamilos' and his friends' campaign generosity and they both voted in favor of the project. These types of attacks didn't exist prior to their involvement in this County.[neutrality disputed]

In 2004, he reentered public life, running successfully for the Lincoln Unified School Board.
