DealTaker, based in Plano, Texas is a very popular bargain hunting website, started in 2004, that lists bargains on the Internet, and contains coupons for online retailers. DealTaker makes money from referrals. When a user follows a link from the site, the target website is notified and may supply monetary compensation in return.
DealTaker also hosts an active online message board, where deals can be found for making purchases on many name brand and also some not as well known items, from clothing, housewares to electronics/computers. Many times items can be purchased for little or even free after rebates. On occasion items can be purchased with rebates greater than the cost, effectively making money to purchase it.
Also hosted is a coupon repository, where users are able to obtain coupon codes for online shopping exists. This has been a point of frustruation for other affiliate marketers as they often lose commissions to these types of 'coupon sites'.
DealTaker users actively post advance notice of sales, with specific focus on Black Friday sales (the day after thanksgiving). In addition DealTaker actively donates a portion of all sales to help fight breast cancer, which affects approximately one in eleven women.
DealTaker has a Price engine for searching prices across several stores, and a Universal Gift Registry (released late 2006).
In 2007 they sponsored Frank Cicci Racing Nascar #34 driven by Jay Sauter.
In 2008 they were purchased by Media General.
They are sponsors of North Texas (2006, 2007), Dallas (2006, 2007), Aspen (2007), Northeast Ohio (2007), Denver (2007), Austin (2007)Race for the cure events to help promote breast cancer awareness..
