De Montagne is a french film by directress Jane Purrier. It was released on 18 March 2001. It is in both French and English. It was nominated for 2 Cesar awards and a European film award.

[edit] Plot
It starts of with lonely mother Julienne Dosiar (Helena Bonham Carter) who lives in a chalet in the Alps with her son Tomas (Jean Morod) who is causing her trouble and unhapiness. Her sister (Sylvie Testud) Louisa Marienne arrives to the house all flustered with her hair ripped. As the story goes on you find out that both Louisa and Julienne had troubled pasts both involving old husbands which made them return to their mother's house hiding in the Alps. A few years later they are both still there although Julienne's son has left for a job in Marseille. Meanwhile a handsome American man named Danny Tyler (Brian Geraty) moves into the village. Unfortunately both sisters fall for him and their strong relationship breaks as Danny chooses Louisa. The last scene which is the one that critics have given good reviews too Louisa have a wedding in their local church while Julienne cries on a cubicle in the house.
