De Rosa are a Scottish rock band from Bellshill. They are noted for their use of indie rock compositions combined with Henry's personal lyrics sung in a Scottish accent. Elements of Scottish folk are an important part of their music, although recently the band has begun to use more synthesisers and drum machines in their live set, their sound moving away from the guitar-based rock of their debut material.

The band was formed by main songwriter Martin John Henry in the early 2000’s. They are a five piece (brothers James and Neil Woodside on bass and drums respectively, with Chris Connick on guitar and Andrew Bush on piano/keayboards). They are still based in and around Lanarkshire and Glasgow. Although not credited as a full member of De Rosa on their debut album, Connick has been involved with the band since it's inception, and played bass guitar on many of the songs. He joined the band as guitarist/keyboardist in 2006, soon after the album was completed. Bush joined De Rosa as pianist/keyboardist in 2007 having previously worked as their live sound engineer.

De Rosa signed in 2004 to Lanarkshire label Gargleblast Records, run by Shaun Tallamy & Andy Miller (producer of Mogwai, Arab Strap, Sons and Daughters, Life Without Buildings, Scout Niblett and The Delgados amongst others), and it was following the release of their debut single ("Camera"/"All Saints Day") in August 2004 that they first attracted interest from DJs including the late John Peel, Steve Lamacq and others. De Rosa locked themselves away in Chem 19 Studios, with producer Miller for most of 2005. The use of Chemikal Underground’s recording studio led to the Glasgow label releasing their debut album Mend, under licence from the band's original label.

The band spent 2006 and early 2007 touring and promoting their first album - released in the UK by Chemikal Underground Records on June 19th 2006. Mend was voted 16th in British music magazine Mojo's top 50 albums of 2006. Recently De Rosa have embarked on support tours with Scottish indie bands Mogwai and Arab Strap, and completed their first headline tour of Europe in April 2007.

They are currently recording their second album, once again at Chem 19 recording studios in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Guest musicians on the as yet untitled album include Barry Burns of Mogwai and Robert Johnston of Life Without Buildings. The album will be released by Chemikal Underground Records in 2008.
