De Punt

De Punt in the municipality of Tynaarlo.

De Punt (53°71′N, 6°36′E) is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo, and lies about 11 km south of Groningen.

The statistical area "De Punt", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 240.[1]

De Punt was the site for the 1977 Dutch train hostage crisis.

In 2008, de Punt reached national news headlines as the site of a fire in a shipyard, where three firemen, aged 48, 29 and 38, died.[2]
