De Lysle Ferrée Cass (1887 - 1973) was a writer of fantasy short stories. His stories appeared in pulp magazines including The All-Story, The Smart Set and College Life. His novel, As it is Written, was published by Donald M. Grant, Publisher, Inc. in 1982 under the inadvertent pseudonym "Clark Ashton Smith". The manuscript for the novel was discovered in the files of The Thrill Book magazine and mistakenly believed to be the work of Clark Ashton Smith using Cass as a pseudonym. After the novel was published, the mistake was discovered.
