De-asphalting unit

A de-asphalting unit separates the asphalt from the rest of the crude oil residue. The de-asphalter unit is usually placed after the vacuum tower in a crude oil refinery. The process is often referred to as a solvent de-asphalter, SDA. And the crude oil remaining after the de-asphalting is referred to as de-asphalted oil, DAO.
