To Whom It May Concern: The following notation on an article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DCU_Center) written by my coworkers and myself about the DCU Center was brought to my attention. According to your website, this article or section is written like an advertisement. Please help rewrite this article from a neutral point of view per Wikipedia policy. Mark blatant advertising for speedy deletion with Template:Db-Spam. (Help, talk).

I personally do see any part of this article as an advertisement. It is intended to be seen as an overview of our event venue. We are not promoting any upcoming events or using your website as a marketing tool to get clients to select the DCU Center for an event. We are not saying our venue is better than another venue. The following parts of articles are not intended and should not be seen as advertisements.

1.For nearly 25 years, the DCU Center in Worcester has been recognized as the gathering place for people to experience the finest in entertainment, sporting events and public functions. Hailed as one of the most successful entertainment and convention facilities in the nation, the DCU Center opened its doors in September 1982 with the legendary Frank Sinatra Inaugural Concert. Since that time, acts of all musical genres have found their way to the arena stage. From rock to rap, country to contemporary, millions of fans from all over the world have come to the DCU Center to see their favorite performers.- Our Opening paragraph talks about the the kind of entertainment that we attract. It is a known fact that singers such as Frank Sintara and entertainers such as Barnum Bailey Circus have drawn large sold out crowds at any venue they played at. People came to the events because of the performer’s popularity, not the venue. Our venue’s attendenance has increased due to the type of performers that held event here and as a result we have recieved recogintion that have make us one of best(not the best) successful event venues.

2. The arena has featured annual appearances of the top family shows- These shows received top ratings because of events at venues including ours.

3. The Convention Center opened in 1997 and has been described as an architectural gem. With 50,000 square feet of exhibit space, 11 meeting rooms, a 12,144 square foot ballroom (the largest in Central Massachusetts) and a state-of-the-art kitchen, the Convention Center is home to a wide array of consumer shows, trade shows, conventions, conferences, high school and college graduations and other functions year-round. Since its opening, the Convention Center has far exceeded all anticipated projections in activity and attendance. This paragraph is not meant to be taken as an opinion of our organization or the city of the Worcester. It is among the many positive comments we have received from organizations who have used our event space. All the events held at the convention space drew larger crowds than anticipated. Most event hosts have requested to use our event venue again and/or reccomended to someone else.

I have also looked at several articles on your website about other event venues. Most of these were written in similar format to our article. The authors of Times Union Center(Albany,NY) clearly advertises an upcoming event. Our article does not advertise any upcoming events.

I am familiar with your policies on blatant advertising and advertisments. I do not believe that our article is in violation of these two or any other Wikipedia policies. We understand that all articles on your website are meant to serve as reference sources and not as marketing tools for an organization’s product. The intended audience for our article is everyone, not just organizations who are considering using our venue for an event. We do not anticipate the viewing of tis article will result in event hosts requesting to use our venue in the future.

We understand that your website may seen our article as an adverisement. We are requesting that notation will be removed from our article. We are willing to make any reccomended changes to our articles. Thank you for your assistance with this matter. Should any questions please feel to e-mail me at jlahair@dcucenter.com.

Sincerely,

John LaHair Director of Marketing

[edit] Celtics Section

Someone please rewrite this section to fit Wikipedia criteria and style guidelines. Right now, I think it's a news article just copied and pasted in. Thanks President David Palmer (talk) 20:58, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
