[edit] replacing images
You had uploaded Image Image:Darkseidreborn.png on january 27, then you relaced that image by a duplicate image called Image:Brainseid.png, if you are going to replace your own image or any other image, next time place the orphened tag, {{subst:orfud}}, or the speedy deletion tag, {{db-author}}, if you're replacing your own image. since you can't have fair use images that aren't used and can't have duplicatesGman124 15:14, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit warring retracted
I'm sure you are well aware of our guidance on edit warring, but I feel I have to point you towards it with regards your edits at Thanos. Always seek to discuss controversial edits and build a consensus, and always assume good faith in every editor's actions. Wikipedia is not a battleground, so please attempt to refrain from engaging in battles over the text of articles, or even the images useed. Please don't use edit summaries as a discussion tool, their purpose is simply to describe the changes you have made to the article. Any discussion regarding edits should be made on talk pages to better facilitate discussion. I'm sure you are aware that behaviour which violates our behavioral policies can lead to blocks being issued. Please do not interpret this message as a threat, but rather as advice as to the behaviour all Wikipedians are expected to adhere to as best they can. Steve block Talk 11:08, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- I retract this statement, further investigation shows discussion on all sides regarding the issues. My apologies. Steve block Talk 12:02, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Use Edit Summaries
Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary. Thank you. RedSpruce (talk) 02:25, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] In the DC or Marvel Universe
Those characters are in those universes. They haven't left them. Doczilla (talk) 05:43, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Jason
There is no critical commentary for that image first off. Second, there certainly wouldn't be any critical commentary for it in the plot section of the article. Jason had many appearances and we cannot show them all. He only wore the bag for like 20 minutes of the movie and then ditched it. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 12:32, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Darkseid

[edit] Please get into the habit of edit summaries
I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! [edit] Comics Articles for Deletion
One or more articles you’ve been involved in editing (Melter, Ringer (comics), Ego the Living Planet, or others) has been nominated for deletion. If you feel you can make contributions to the article to improve it and make it worth keeping, please do so. BOZ (talk) 15:43, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of Apocalypse: The Twelve
I have nominated Apocalypse: The Twelve, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Apocalypse: The Twelve. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] image thumb sizes
How do you decide what is the best image thumb sizes when you make edits? Some edits are most interesting. :) Rockfang (talk) 13:41, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Depends on the quality of the image. Some particular thumb sizes makes the image look sharper, which is good. DCincarnate (talk)
[edit] re: X-Factor #25
While I can see the value on creating a png from a fresh scan, there are a few issues:
- It's a scan of the full cover. It shouldn't be edited to remove any of the text in the image/price box. Or to change the UPC box. If the version you have is the newsstand, the UPC should be there.
- It shouldn't be any largest than 300px across, and even this is in excess of the recommended .1 megapixel size. (The recommendation seems to have been removed, but this is still a good rule of thumb since the non free images are rarely, if ever used approaching this size.)
And by all means, if you've got a file that fills that bill, up load it over Image:Xfactor251988.png so that it's automatically replaced where the image is in use, don't just create a new file name. Part of the reason I downed you original upload there was it was so large it wasn't funny.
- J Greb (talk) 01:09, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
And the image you replaced it with has terrible quality. The problem with X-Factor #25 is that it's really difficult to find a good quality version of the cover. The reprint is the only good one. - DCincarnate (talk) 01:48, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- AH! Ok, I see where the trouble is then. Can you shrink the scan you have down and specify in the FUR description the it is a reprint and where the reprint was published? That should cover if. - J Greb (talk) 03:05, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

- Published? Well, it was published by Marvel Comics, of course; the Marvel Legends Apocalypse figure came with a reprint of X-Factor #25. - DCincarnate (talk)

[edit] Help to clean up the Thanos page?
Given that you seem to like the character and have usually been both dilligent, and reasonable regarding that only matter-of-fact descriptions/quotations should stay on a character page, is there any chance that you could help me clean up the Thanos page, and possibly the Galactus and Power Cosmic ones later on? There are a lot of apparently deliberately misleading statements, severe hyperbole, or completely made up claims in each of them. Help would be very appreciated, since I don't have much time nowadays. Dave (talk) 18:58, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, sure. DCincarnate (talk) 19:17, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. There seems to be a lot of "Galactus is the most powerful entity in the universe" inaccurate pumping going on (then again there are many editors around so it may simply be a final product), simply based on a hyping (that's it's job) crossover recap slogan, while the far more reliable officially editorially approved handbook which contradicts this is somehow forbidden, even though Galactus has been severely outmatched on multiple occasions, and there are various universal-level cosmic entities around. He's also touted as the living embodiment of the power cosmic, which is the most powerful force in the universe. Beyond being pure speculation, Thanos stated outright in Annihilation that it wasn't, and that he preferred more efficient alternatives when Annihilus probed him for assistance to sample it. The page also inaccurately cites (cited if my edit isn't reverted) SS#31 to state that the Living Tribunal is a composite entity composed of Galactus, Eternity and Death, even though LT stated outright that it transcended all dualities and simply gave various philosophical examples. As you know I have a general problem with that kind of hyperbole. Dave (talk) 22:30, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Requests
Three things if you could please:
- Please provide clear edit summaries for your edits. It is very hard to see why you've made edits at a glance unless you do.
- Please break your edits up. That is, edit/fix one section, item, or paragraph at a time. This allows for an easier time, in conjunction with edit summaries, understanding your edits, and it makes it easier for others to go back to specific edits if need be.
- If you are going to replace images, along with the above 2 requests, also make sure you aren't just replacing an image that is as well, if not better, suited to the purpose in the article. Specifically on this one I'm looking at your replacement animation image at Blackfire and both images at Beast Boy.
Thanks, - J Greb (talk) 13:53, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Images for placement
With regard to images for the comics project articles, the relevant project level guideline is to keep close to the display size. Uploading a 500px+ or 300px wide image to replace a 276px image that is being used as a spot, an image that should be between 150 to 200px wide, is counter to that.
If there is a valid reason and way to replace the JPG with a PNG, and converting a JPG to a PGN defeats the purpose, the PNG should be of the same size.
Also, the general rule of thumb for uploading a JPG under a different name to replace an identical JPG is if the current file has a misleading or obscure name. (This applies for any like for like file uploads.) If the file name is fine, just upload the new version to that file name using the "Upload a new version of this file" link.
Thanks,
- J Greb (talk) 22:28, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Apocalypse
That's becoming quite an impressive page. Off the top of my head, I would say try for a strong image of the character from a cover, as opposed to what looks like a OHOTMU snapshot. White backgrounds make the SHB image look too clinical. I'd also trim to opening to 2 sentences max, and pop the rest in tight chronological order in the FCB. Remember, the layman just needs the gist at a glance if only browsing.
Perhaps 1 - 2 less images and slightly better placement (the head shot of the character on the cover is awesome) and some trimmed text?
Good luck with it!
