DC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy was founded in 1999 in Washington, DC. Its mission is to improve life and health for adolescents through advocacy and by cutting the teen pregnancy rate in half. A 501(c)(3)organization grounded in youth development, DC Campaign believes that all young people are "at promise" rather than "at risk."
DC Campaign pursues its mission by:
- Building relationships, grounded in trust and shared goals that are essential to effect change;
- Sharing/Compiling Data, which forms the foundation for good personal and policy decisions;
- Advocating on behalf of teens and providing them with opportunities to speak for themselves;
- Enlisting the media to spread the word about teen pregnancy and its connection to other issues; and
- Organizing people closest to the issues that affect the health and well being of young people.
