[edit] Deleting items from user talk page

Hi. I noticed that your approach to items left on this page is to delete them without replying or commenting. While this is your user talk page, and it's up to you what you do with it, it's often considered bad form to do this, and may upset people. Just so that you can't say nobody warned you, I thought I'd let you know. It's better to reply to comments/queries/suggestions/etc. by replying either on this page, or on a user's own talk page. Thanks, --RFBailey 23:37, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I appologise for this i was simply trying to keep the page with relevant information on only, I meant no disrespect Dbertman 12:39, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
If you are interested in a proper way to do this, check out WP:ARCHIVE. - ßottesiηi (talk) 16:24, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jerry C Deletion

I think the article Jerry C does meet the music standards as he has done a tour of Taiwan and I'm not sure what the quarral with the image is but I could use another. Thunder Cat 11:03, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

I felt the article didn't meet the criteria of WP:MUSIC. If you think it does then you are more than welcome to oppose the deletion on the deletion page. Dbertman 11:06, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't mind, I'm quite new and getting my barings so I appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you and I hope you support me in keeping the article. Thunder Cat 11:17, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

How do you make your page so interesting and innovative? :p

[edit] Alison Krauss

Could you give actionable issues at Alison Krauss' FAC? If you don't tell me what you think is wrong I can't very well fix it. Staxringold talkcontribs 14:33, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Please keep FAC discussion on the FAC page, or the discussion will be impossible to follow. Staxringold talkcontribs 14:45, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I've added (and am going to continue to add to) a new "Artistry" section per Mariah Carey to encompass the various critical reviews of things. Any updated comments in the FAC would be a help, even if I don't get the job done to reverse your opinion by the end of the FAC. Thanks! Staxringold talkcontribs 22:27, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I've made some severe additions, any further review by you would be greatly appreciated. Staxringold talkcontribs 22:25, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
  • The article has garnered another support, any chance of further review? The article is very well sourced, covers every aspect of her career as I see it, and is well-written IMO. Staxringold talkcontribs 16:36, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shakira Image

Hello, Dbertman. Thanks for uploading this Shakira image. You said that "the image is free for public use", and tagged it as {{GFDL}}, but when I follow the source link you provided, I don't see enough information to conclude that image may be freely used.

The website backgroundsarchive.com explains on its faq that only public domain images should be uploaded, but it doesn't go on to say how the site enforces this rule. Also, I was no able to determine who uploaded that image to the site (It just reads "Owner: (unknown)"). Knowing the uploader would make it possible for us to contact him and ask about the image origins.

For these reasons, I believe that, at least for now, we are not certain about that image copyright status. And I have run out of ideas on how to determine that. Do you have any other information on that picture origins, or on how that information could be get?

I'm changing the image license to Public Domain, and adding a notice about uncertainty on the image source. This image may be indicated for deletion if we don't make any progress on this. Best regards, --Abu Badali 16:10, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

That is ok, I misunderstood the website that I got it from and assumed they were all free for public use. Dbertman 16:17, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Should I indicate this image file for deletion, aor are we still going to try to discover the image origins? If so, do you have any idea on how to discover that? Thanks for being polite and comprehensive. --Abu Badali 16:32, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
At this time I do not know of a way to find the image origins so indicating the file for deletion is probably the best option. Dbertman 17:09, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Lets make it so. I've listed the image for deletion. I put a link to this conversation so that the reasons are understood. Thanks a lot, Dbertman. Dealing with such willing, cool-minded and prestative editors as you are refreshs our enthusiasm. --Abu Badali 18:23, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Not a problem :-) I'm glad we could sort this out, any further questions just leave me a message on my talk page, take care. Dbertman 18:30, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA

With the greatest respect, I think you should prepare yourself for a bump on your RfA, I feel a lot of editors will oppose, particularly on "time served" and also the problems you appear to have had in naming the 2nd RfA properly. An admin coaching program exists and you would possibly benefit from joining it, if you haven't seen it already it's at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs/Admin coaching. Good luck with everything, Deizio talk 00:07, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

I agree and have withdrawn the application appropriately. Thanks for your advice. 00:10, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Icelandair logo

If you go to the www.icelandair.net website you and under the "about us" section you will notice that the the logo with the white background, the one that i have put in, is on there. They seem to be changing their logo to this one. This can also be seen by looking at their north american, icelandic, british ect. websites. Please don't change the logo again beacuse this one seems to be more in line with their current logo policy.

Egill

Both versions of this logo appear on this section of the icelandair.net website, and the one i uploaded seems to be more consistent with other airline articles, however, I shall leave it as it is as it will only end up with us both reverting each others edits. Dbertman 14:01, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Look at their advertising and websites (www.icelandair.com). The one that has the rudder on it is their logo.

[edit] Thank Goodness

Thank goodness someone's held their resolve against the amount of vandalism the Doncaster articles have been getting of late. Personally, I don't see anything against EGCN.co.uk, apart from some grudge against the reverter. I've been reverting these, however from Friday, I'll be offline for about a week, so I hope you can revert any NPOV articles in lieu of me. Best Wishes. M0RHI | Talk to me 01:56, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Doncaster

According to the Doncaster article, the contiguous urban area is just 127,851. It doesn't strike me as reasonable to include the whole borough. Is there a reason not to revert your edit to City status in the United Kingdom? --Concrete Cowboy 12:28, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

AFAIK the application for city status for Doncaster included the entire borough, however if this is incorrect then please correct it. Dbertman 17:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Icelandair logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Icelandair logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 18:41, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Doncaster Borough Police

Hi. I saw you made Doncaster Borough Police. Thanks! You may be interested to know that in 1968, it didn't pass immediately to South Yorkshire Police, which was not formed in 1974, but there was an intermediate stage of a West Yorkshire Constabulary, covering all the West Riding of Yorkshire apart from Bradford, Leeds and Sheffield/Rotherham. Furthermore, there was no such thing as a 'metropolitan borough' in 1968. Morwen - Talk 14:28, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your input. I didn't know a great deal on the subject so I am glad you have been able to clarify some points. Dbertman 18:16, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Billy_aaron_brown_promo_pic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Billy_aaron_brown_promo_pic.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Concordia Newsletter

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

[edit] Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

[edit] Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Billy_aaron_brown_promo_pic.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Billy_aaron_brown_promo_pic.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. hbdragon88 00:01, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Billy_aaron_brown_promo_pic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Billy_aaron_brown_promo_pic.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. hbdragon88 23:17, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Balby carr school logo.gif

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Balby carr school logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC).
