Template talk:Db-web
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The citation of {{web-warn}} in the small type of this template expands out to the full text of {{web-warn}} when {{db-web}} is subst'ed into a page. Presumably this was not the intent. Can someone who understands templates better than I do take a look at this? Thanks. FreplySpang 17:44, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Shouldn't there be a link to WP:WEB and there are similar link on the other A7 templates? Seems like that info would be useful for the newbies. 02:52, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Ok, well I think I will be Bold and change it. Danski14 02:55, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and I noticed that someone took down the link a while ago saying it was "not the threshold for A7". It seems to be an official policy to me (for web related), and one that is followed pretty well. But if anyone wants, we can change it so it just links to WP:N. Danski14 03:09, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rewrite to utilize Template:Db-bio
Hello, fellow editors ... after the discussions on Db-Bio's discussion page and Twinkle's discussion page, I cloned this template so that it uses {{Db-bio}}
the same as both {{Db-band}}
and {{Db-inc}}
... now they all look the same, and each one points to the appropriate WP:N guideline ... Happy Editing! —72.75.72.63 (talk · contribs) 23:17, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Template wording versus policy wording
Template: "... an article about a web site, blog, online forum, webcomic, podcast, online game, or similar web content that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject"
WP:CSD#A7: "An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from questions of notability, verifiability and reliability of sources. A7 applies only to articles about web content or articles on people and organizations themselves, not articles on their books, albums, software and so on."
Doesn't the template's "online forum" and "online game" phrases step outside the scope of "web content"? I'd propose rewording it as "web forum" and "web game." Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 09:07, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced, but rather raised the point at Wikipedia_talk:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#Online_games_and_A7, because we need to clarify the policy intent first and the page is also bookmarked by more people. Personally, I'd say that the Wakfu DRV was a clear indicator that online games in general are considerd.--Tikiwont (talk) 13:36, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've made a courtesy revert pending consensus. I wrongly assumed the change would be uncontroversial. See discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#Online_games_and_A7. Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 14:44, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank, but it wasn't really a problem. Editing guidelines is actually sometimes necessary to see if somebody cares and your post hadn't been answered. --Tikiwont (talk) 14:57, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- On further reflection and per the above linked discussion, I've restored the change.--Tikiwont (talk) 09:25, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
