[edit] Please read Template talk:Db-reason before editing.
If you are contemplating editing this template, especially with regards to categorization or parameters, please read the discussion at Template talk:Db-reason.
{{db-reason}} is the meta-template from which all these templates derive, and is also used for CSD in its own right. Some of the other CSD templates are also used both as meta-templates, and as templates in their own right. Because of this, the relationship between these templates, their parameters, and the issue of categorization (so that candiate articles get categorized, but the templates temselves don't) is more complex that it appears at first glance. The discussion on Template talk:Db-reason should elucidate some of these issues. Jamie (talk/contribs) 04:28, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] hangon
This template says to use {{hangon}}, but {{hangon}} trancludes to tell you not to use it on talk pages... HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 21:44, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Is is necessary to create a {{hangon-talk}} and alter the text of this template specificially (is that even possible or is its transclusion from db-meta going to screw that up?)? Otherwise, {{hangon}} really needs to lose the namespace check. OR there's never a reason to keep a talk page without the article and so this template needs to simply lose the {{hangon}} qualification so that it just says "if you disagree, so what?" ... or something. ju66l3r 21:27, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

- There is already syntax in {{hangon}} to put it on a talk page, as documented at the hangon template. But this is a quite rare event, compared to the common mistake of new users putting hangon on the talk page when the article itself is up for deletion. CMummert · talk 23:02, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks.. I missed that.
The correct syntax is {{hangon|tp=1}}but this template uses {{db-meta}} for the bulk of its content, including the reference to {{hangon}}. Someone more familiar with these templates might suggest how and if to address this exception with the {{db-talk}} page stating the correct syntax for {{hangon}} usage. ∴ here…♠ 00:44, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk pages that aid in the creation and upkeep of articles
As I understand the policy, a talk page that exists before a corresponding article exists should be encouraged as long as it is serving the goal of creating a good article on a notable subject. Mathiastck 15:17, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Delete
I'm in favor of deletion. Talk pages are allowed in the case where the serve to assist in the creation of a better article on a notable subject. They assist greatly in the creation of new articles. Mathiastck 15:16, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm now less sure of wiki policiy on this subject :) I'm thinking perhaps it got changed since I started created talk pages to assist in the creation of articles :) Mathiastck 17:17, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
The template is useful, but the person placing it needs to check if there is an ongoing discussion about the creation or recreation of the article first. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 17:29, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Delay
I have removed the code for the optional delay, it seemed to break the template (templates were never listed as a result) -- lucasbfr talk 12:54, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Talk pages for Commons images
This edit strikes me as being the wrong way to go. If an image is on Commons, starting a talk page for it on the English Wikipedia would not be appropriate. The image should be discussed on its image talk page on Commons. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 01:46, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
