[edit] nigeria.mooo.com spam

Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with other things. Try suggesting the adresses nigeria.mooo.com and lagospicture.mooo.com and any others being spammed at m:Talk:Spam blacklist. It shouldn't be too difficult to provide ten diffs. I have found that asking some admins over there to act on your request works best (otherwise you might end up waiting a few weeks). Kind regards, — mark 13:19, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Here's a recent one: [1]. Given the precedent of threats and so on, I gave this one an indefinite block too. — mark 11:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

See here for the request I submitted to Meta. I hope they'll fix it soon. — mark 07:22, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Also, you might want to know that I went on a blocking spree and jailed all the sockpuppets to prevent more of this. Let me know when they reincarnate, if they do. — mark 09:16, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

And we're clean (although there seems to be a delay in updating, otherwise I couldn't have made such a beautiful section heading). Kind regards, — mark 16:35, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it works! — mark 20:38, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] spam, second chapter

See meta:Talk:Spam_blacklist#nigeriaplanet.tk_and_other_redirects_to_blacklisted_sites this request over at meta. If you feel like adding some diffs, by all means do. I've blocked Smiths Kelvin, whom you added to Amy333's league. — mark 07:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nigeria

[edit] Gnaa, Nigeria

If you get the chance, can you look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gnaa, Nigeria (2nd nomination). --A. B. 22:19, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

The second AfD closed but now the article Gnaa, Nigeria has just entered its 3rd AfD. There's been considerable debate in the past as to:
  1. Does such a place even exist?
  2. If a place does exist with that name, is it notable?
  3. Is this all a hoax perpetrated by the other GNAA, the Gay Niggers Association of America; they issue press releases datelined Gnaa, Nigeria.
If you get the chance, can you maybe take a look and render an opinion pro or con? Thanks, --A. B. 00:57, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Requested Yoruba translation

Hi Day-Gee. Since the Yoruba Wikipedia doesn't seem to have any babel templates, and you're currently the only one on the English Wikipedia who is in Category:User yo-N, I figured you'd be the best person to ask about this: would you be able to translate {{User yo-1}}, {{User yo-2}}, and {{User yo}} into Yoruba and change the templates accordingly, so as to fit with the rest of the babel system? You yourself created the second and third, but all three are in English, while the templates are supposed to be in the native language. Picaroon 21:04, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help needed at Yoruba Wikipedia

Hi. I see that you're a native speaker of Yoruba. Can you got over to Wikipedia's Yoruba page and see if you can create and translate texts (in and to Yoruba)?

(The links of articles that need to be created are colored in red, of course.)

Also help out in adding texts for these articles, or expand them:

See you around. - Qasamaan 09:56, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kurów

Could you please write a stub http://yo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kur%C3%B3w - just a few sentences based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kur%C3%B3w ? Only 2-5 sentences enough. Please.

PS. Article about Kurów is already on 133 languages. If you do that, please put interwiki link into English version. Pietras1988 20:41, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:E Go Better.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:E Go Better.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:14, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of If They Only Knew

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on If They Only Knew, by Corpx (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because If They Only Knew seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting If They Only Knew, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate If They Only Knew itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 20:07, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Bba2-logo.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Bba2-logo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 22:54, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Tony_Tetuila.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Tony_Tetuila.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 19:33, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
