[edit] History
In 1916, Dayton Wire Wheels was founded in Dayton, Ohio. They were originally used on Ford's Model T.
[edit] Popular Culture
In addition to being known in the rap community, they are also one of the few companies to make a 24 karat gold rim. Dayton wire wheels are regarded as the wheel of choice for lowrider cars, with the 13 inch and 14 inch reversed spoke wheels being the most popular. Dayton rims have also been referred to as "D's" by many rappers.
[edit] Other Companies
These rims are imitated by other companies. OG, Luxor, Player Wire Rims are just some of the companies. The average guy in the street can't afford the real dayton, so they resort to buying the cheaper product.
