Assessment comments
The following comments were left by the assessors: (edit · history · watch · refresh) Accuracy: As someone who has lived through the history described in the article, I can attest to its accuracy. Relevance: Cohen,s campaign was extremely important to Australian Jewish history, becausefor the first time the Australian Jewish community put limits on the control exerted by its rabbinate over the community in non-religious matters. It is an interesting part of gay and lesbian history, because international support is what allowed the campaign to gain prominence in the Australian Jewish community. The impact on Jewish community in Australia: The campaign Cohen co-lead did turn round how Australian Jews viewed gays. The battleis important, not only though for gay and lesbian issues, but because the whole world is looking to whether minority communities can or will control their religious right. Whether one supports gay or lesbian rights or not, this was an unheard of community action for Jewish community of publically limiting and controlling its religious courts. Strengths of article: accuracy, relevance and importance to : Australian Jewish matters, international gay and lesbian matters, religion, and social control. Weaknesses of article: dont conform to style requirements of Wikapaedia. More references would be good because there are heaps out there. The article is accurately referenced, and links are correct. I checked links references. I know there are many more, from articles I have read over years, but just dont have time to source them. RebeccaRebecca Kagan 22:20, 6 October 2007 (UTC) |
