[edit] Philosophy
The mission of the Middle Country Central School District is to empower and inspire all students to apply the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be creative problem solvers, to achieve personal success, and to contribute responsibly in a diverse and dynamic world.
[edit] Structure
6th-8th grades are taught in Dawnwood Middle School. The school itself is in a 2-story L-shape, consisting of 3 wings, appropriately known as Wing 1, Wing 2, and Wing 3.
The teachers work in a "team" system. Each student is assigned to a "team" of (usually) 3 or more teachers, each teaching an essential academic class. Most Dawnwood "teams" have specialized teachers for Math, English Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, however some "teams" (i.e. "team 6-2") have multiple teachers that teach a certain subject. The rest of the classes (music, art, etc.) are not structured as "teams" and work independently.
