The Dawning 4000A is a supercomputer manufactured by Dawning Information Industry in the People's Republic of China. In June 2004, it debuted as one of the top 10 fastest supercomputers in the world, on the TOP500 list [1].
The system, at the Shanghai Supercomputer Center, utilizes over 2,560 Advanced Micro Devices' Opteron processors, and can reach speeds of 8 teraflops.
The next generation of "Dawning" supercomputer is under development, named 5000A, would be use Loongson 3 processors which has 16 cores each. [2]
