User talk:Davidpdx/Special Wikipedia Board Elections

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi,

I appreciate you taking the time to let people know about the elections. I don't log onto Wikipedia much anymore, mainly due to some bad experiences I've had. The last one was the name change of Dokdo to Takashima which I was harassed and labeled a sockpuppet.

There are many other instances where Wikipedia has simply not lived up to the premise it was built on. Right now there are so many other good causes in the "real world" that need to be built on like the environment and the 2008 election in the US, that I have begun to believe it is not worth the time and energy to fight with people to make an encyclopedia with most of the negative crap that goes on.

Although I think most of the admins do a good job, I think there are some crooked ones as well as some of the people involved with the arbitration and other people who are behind the scenes in Wikipedia. My guess no matter how many people vote, those people will continue to skew Wikipedia in their own way.

While I will continue to edit occasionally, I will never come back as full bore as I did when I first started editing. I may still vote if I have time, but I feel Wikipedia is no longer something I wish to actively participate in. The sad truth is, the system is broken and no one is really interested in changing it.

Sincerely,

davidpdx
