I think User:Agne27 is the one to ask about the newsletter delivery, and she can probably also point out the person who did the snazzy design as well.--Limegreen 01:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Lock an account?

I don't normally do this but I was wondering if you could lock an account, or leave a friendly message warning another user not to add external links promoting a particular site to the external links sections in articles. The particular user is Benar20. I have no personally grudge against Benar20 but after looking at his contribution log I've noticed that the only thing he is contributing to various articles is his promotion of a website. Feel free to check the history on The Oregon Trail (computer game) article. Thanks. b_cubed 03:29, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Banning vs blocking

Right, I'd hope everyone who made it through an RfA understood the distinction between blocks and bans (I've seen candidates get a lot of opposition for not doing so) but given that your comment at User talk:Doc glasgow suggests that you are not aware of it. The relevant polices are WP:BLOCK and WP:BAN. Administrators have the ability to block users from editing Wikipedia for a period of time. A ban is a community sanction, or can be imposed by ArbCom or Jimbo Wales. Bans are often categorised as when a user is blocked and no admin will unblock. Ban have additional consequences to blocks.

That aside, I found you comment on Doc's talkpage outrageous. We don't run around threatening other admins with blocks (let alone bans) if they edit war. We assume good faith that they will not do so. Doc clearly reverted only once whereas the IP did so three times and demonstrated and intention to continue doing so. I have accordingly blocked the IP that was edit warring on Sleeping Beauty and generally trolling. WjBscribe 15:54, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I agree with WJBscribe above- your comments on Doc's page were very inappropriate. It's not proper for admins to try to throw their weight around that way. I hope you'll take a more conservative approach in the future. Friday (talk) 15:50, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Deleting and undeleting

Also, do be careful if you mistakenly delete a page to restore all revisions of it, not just the latest one. See [1] and [2]. To comply with GFDL we need to preserve each page's full edit history. WjBscribe 16:23, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Block of 66.230.200.144

I've reversed this block. Please see discussions on WP:AN and WP:AN/I. There is currently a problem with MediaWiki causing this IP, which belongs to one of the servers, to register for all IP edits. Blocking this address autoblocks everyone. - auburnpilot talk 22:22, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Adelaide Aglietta

I left a message for Wizardman - did not know how to go about seeing how an article was deleted - but you recently did a speedy delete on Adelaide Aglietta - but I did some research and left a {hangon} tag on her page citing the 16,000+ hits she generates on google plus she has an entry on Italian Wikipedia. Can you reverse that speedy and instead add a {prod} to her page so the matter can be debated? --Ozgod 16:29, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Enchanted Forest

Hello -

I am unsure as to why you deleted my article on Enchanted Forest Water Safari. I am from the central new york area and am interested in bolstering (and creating) articles about various discussion points in my area. I first attempted a brief article on Enchanted Forest with the intent on editing it the following day, and found it was speedily deleted. After reading the reasons why, I agreed that I needed more information and sources, so I researched the topic and found non-partisan information about the park (I have no vested interest in this park - I simply am aware of it and want a Wikipedia page created for it) including historical documentation. This evening, I found that you marked it for deletion. Can you explain your reasons? What can we do together to help me successfully create this page?

Thank you, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjm10 (talkcontribs)

GAC backlog elimination drive

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:32, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Wikitree deletion

You recently deleted a page relating to Wikitree, that I had requested that it's nomination for speedy deletion be "held on" so that I could debate its notability. Having put forward an argument, I was waiting for a response from the user who had made the nomination. No response had come, so I decided to check the discussion page in the morning. When I later checked, the page had been deleted. I find this extremely rude and irritating. Regardless of whether or not a page is notable, a person has the right to debate its worthiness, particularly when the page is clearly not vandalism or of an offensive nature. I had specifically requested to contend its nomination for deletion, which was completely disregarded by you. Wikipedia's strength lies in its ability to cover a broad range of topics in an encyclopedic manner, above and beyond the "Encyclopedia Britannica's" of the world. This relies on the generosity of people donating their time and knowledge. The least you could do is show some for respect for people wishing to make a serious contribution. This is the second time I have had a "trigger happy" administrator try to demonstrate their position of "authority". On the other occasion I received the message, "You had better hurry up with some references, or I will be deleting this page", within seconds of saving the initial stages of my page. This type of attitude does not benefit the Wikipedia project, and only serves to dissuade potential contributors from added to Wikipedia's collective knowledge. Looking at your talk page, their seems to be other contributors who have been concerned by your haste in deleting their pages, and possibly others who have not questioned your administrative decisions. You really need to think about the message that you are communicating to fellow contributors and whether it is in the best interest of the Wikipedia project.

Please direct me to a log of the talk page, so that I can review the debate regarding its notability criteria. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.240.245.254 (talkcontribs)

David, to summarize this editor's userpage user boxes:
  1. Claims to believes strongly in God.
  2. Claims to be a Christian.
  3. Thinks the world would be better without religion.
  4. Knows that everyone hates her.
I can't begin to understand the depths of that conflictedness. (my word).
I reached out and tried to help, as did Phaedriel. She twisted my outreached hand into an attack on her. Phaedriel was treated similarly.
Our help was unwanted. She seems determined to prove that the world is against her. Lsi john 15:53, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Admin Nazi deletion

I put a {{hangon}} (holdon?) tag, a reference to current usage of the term on Usenet, and a justification in the talk page of this article but you have still deleted it. From your comment in the deletion log "(CSD G1- iffy, but unsourced)" it seems you considered (or agreed with Rehnn83 who tagged it thus) that the article was Wikipedia:Patent nonsense. According to that page my article would have been either:

  • "text or random characters that have no assignable meaning at all" or
  • "completely and irredeemably confused"

It was (IMHO) patently neither. (And if it were such gobbledygook would it be relevant whether it was 'unsourced' or not?) I know it wasn't a major work of Wikipedianship but I think it was a succinct and relevant short article on a term in quite widespread use in Internet culture, cf. RTFM, foobar, fscking, ^H etc.

I would appreciate your response (or, better still, restoration of the article!)

--John Stumbles 23:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Please

Please when you to my talk page, read my head I do not appreciate the way you have been treating me, I strongly support the WP:NPA and I really suggest you try and back off before I have to report your behaviour--Migospia☆ 01:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Wow- I can't believe you would say something like that, let's get this straight don't compare sexual abuse or any other type of physical abuse to anything on the Internet because they are NOT the same, you are being very rude to me for no reason I would like for you to look at my header, please do not bring personal issues about me and etc to Wikipedia, yes this is the Internet but it still can be very hurtful. And when I say attacked I mean either brought up some form of personal attack and Cyber-bullying or stalking me and trying to go out their way to cause me emotional harm, not physical attack or whatever talk you thought.--Migospia☆ 01:42, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Coral Smith

Hello, there's a problem going on, at the Coral Smith article. User Migospia☆ changed a valid edit I made about that person on the article not being in a relationship with a guy named Abram and had proof of that with this source [6] This was his first source [7] which is actually just a wikipedia article so it can't be a source, and this is what he rudely says when he makes that first edit that immediately made me feel attacked: What the hell, they kissed and told each other they loved each other and in the reunion Coral stated they are no longer together but still friends.

I rv it back to the way I had it because he was using a wikipedia source and because I knew it never happened, and he realized he had made a mistake. However, he reverted it back again because he thought this was a source[8], which it wasn't. That also refers to it as a beautiful friendship, never a bf/gf relationship. He thinks the fact that they had a close friendship on one of the challenges means they were in a relationship. He claims they kissed and said they loved each other without a source, but I keep telling him that even if that did happen, it doesn't mean they had a relationship like he thinks it does. Not only that but he has broken a rule.

I made several edits I worked hard on, on that article and he reverted all the way back to his own edit. The user is not providing any good sources and I have a source that says they weren't in a relationship and he has no source that says it was a gf/bf relationship, but that it was a friendship. The user's first words to me were 'what the hell' out of know where which made me feel uncomfortable talking to her from the start. I also looked at her history and saw some unfriendly edits, so I came to you since you have had communications with him and know the user in hopes that you could solve this. Please helpEverybodyHatesChris 03:38, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi; I noticed following a link from a BBC blog that the page List of Olympic logos was deleted by you. I wouldn't want to dispute this deletion, but User:Adammon seems to be doing so by recreating the page and placing a project tag on it, which doesn't belong in article space anyway. Ok, just to let you know Jeff - I think it's great that a relatively new editor has as you said you have, recieved the crticism from the afd (which I have not seen) and attempted to make the page better. I still think that they're too many problems to save the article though. First of all - one thing that could make a huge difference would be citing sources using the ref tag and clearly marking where your sources are using the ==Resources/Notes== (either or) header. That's probably your greatest weakness. If you can provide sources (perhaps you could find articles from big name sources like the washington post, new york times, time magazine, newsweek etc.) then your article has a great chance of being notable enough and being kept - it'd be a simmilar situation to this (note the difference is in that they don't have to establish notability because another article already established it). IF you have any questions about any of this (it's getting late over here so I'm not sure if these are coherent sentences) - feel free to stop by my talk page. --danielfolsom 05:13, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi. While going through CAT:RFU, I saw your blocks of 66.184.162.219 (talk · contribs)/65.13.58.108 (talk · contribs). It looks, from the the standpoint of someone with no knowledge of the issues just looking at the history of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, like this individual is not a vandal, but is engaged in a content dispute. If this is subtle vandalism, it is helpful to not use boilerplate templates/block messages so that the exact problem is apparant. --BigDT 01:48, 8 June 2007 (UTC) An editor has asked for a deletion review of Hi-Zack (Mobile suit). Sheesh, you must REALLY hate truth, huh? lol. I contribute by exposing how WOEFULLY LEFT WING BIASED wikipedia is. Sorry if that contribution contradicts your world view. You SELECTIVELY single me out because I'm a conservative, yet utterly ignore the abject hatred posted in the talk pages by your fellow leftists day in and out.

BTW, your wussified threats don't scare me in the least. In your dungeons and dragons world, you may be the DarkLordMaster or whatever, but if you block me, it will provide more evidence that you guys attempt to SUPPRESS all forms of communication that challenge the liberal hegemony in here. IOW, blocking me will validate what I've been claiming all along and give wikipedia just another black eye.

All this is being documented and the only people who will buy your whiny spin that I wasn't 'following the rules' are those already singing (high) tenor in the bong hits 4 wikipedia choir anyway.
