Regarding the ABBA article again: People are getting uppity about each other, and I'm stepping in to see what I can do. I wondered if you wouldn't mind a few editing tips?

Most of your edits, especially this one are very good, and I commend you on them! However, for edits like this, we need proof that they're characterised by that sort of sound - proof which I'm afraid is impossible to find. That ABBA are 'characterised by an uplifting but melancholy sound' is an opinion, as much as it's probably true, and impossible to prove. This is why your edits keep getting reverted. Sorry! Anyone can use warning templates, but there are strict rules regarding their use. The fact is that irregardless of how much you know about ABBA, or what company you work for, Wikipedia has a strict policy on 'neutral point of view', and another fundamental tenet of Wikipedia is community concensus. The current concensus is that your edits don't belong in the article. The accepted thing to do is to take your arguement to the talk page, and if it's still rejected, there isn't much you can do, except perhaps file an official Request for Comment, whereother editors will comment on the dispute. After that there are several more levels, but right now, take it to the talk page, and if that fails, file an RFC using the link above. If you want my personal advice, I'd help out with a few other projects aside from the ABBA article - it helps your case lots if you're seen to be 'moving on', rather than anything else. If you need any help with anything else, feel free to message me, or put {{helpme}} on your talk page, and a much more experienced editor will be along to help. Dave, you need to read WP:RS and WP:OR. Wikipedia requires that all information come from verifiable, reliable sources with no original research. Calling up a store is unfortunately original research and so cannot be included under that basis. If you could, for example find a newspaper or other source which made the claim then we could put it in. JoshuaZ 23:35, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

The references for the ice cream claim you gave might be a start. I'll try to track down some of the claimed quotes on that webpage, especially the New York Times one which would probably do a large part of the sourcing. I would still strongly suggest you read WP:RS,WP:V and WP:OR - it is possible in fact that your experience as a reporter is slightly hindering things, since we have much stricter rules on Wikipedia about what is acceptable sourcing and conclusions. Finally, in regard to ABBA, I've only skimmed that matter and knowing almost nothing about the situation or the band I can't reasonably comment beyond to say that it seems hard for me to see how "uplifting but melancholy sound" would be NPOV since they are inherently very subjective terms. If you were able to find a critic or set of major music critics who used that or a very similar description you could cite them for it and say something like "Music critic X for organization Y had described their music as Z" I hope that helps.
